Maureen Denise Hooper
1972-2026
"For I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
With heavy hearts, we the family of Maureen Denise (Brown) Hooper, wife of Rev. Jason B. Hooper of Utopia NB, announce her passing, surrounded by the love of her family at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on July 15, 2026. Born in Machias ME on August 3, 1972, she was a daughter to Brian Brown and the late Jan (Doble) Brown.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother (affectionately known as "Bammy"), daughter and sister. In addition to her husband, Jason, Maureen will be deeply missed by her children: Brett (Katie) Hooper and Michael (Naomi) Hooper both of St. Stephen NB; her grandbabies: Brooke, Colby, Hallie and Hudson; her father: Brian Brown of Machias ME; siblings: Leonard (Loretta) Brown of North Carolina and Aaron (Tabitha) Brown of Calais ME; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Maureen was sadly predeceased by her mother Jan Brown on January 28th of this year.
A social butterfly, Maureen truly loved people. She held many careers during her life, including being a waitress, aquaculture, Sobeys, retail clerk, and finally held the position as Supervisor at Bayview / Brunswick Credit Union in St. George. Maureen would be the first to tell you her favourite career was being a waitress because it gave her the ability to meet people from all over the world and from all walks of life, every day she was able to make new friends. Although being a pastor’s wife wasn’t originally part of the plan, she excelled at the role and brought peace and comfort to those who needed it. She loved her church, was strong in her faith, and loved assisting not only her husband’s congregation but numerous others. Above all, her children and grandchildren were her life and nothing else brought her as much joy and comfort as being surrounded by their love. While we are saddened by her passing, we take great comfort in knowing Maureen is now at peace with her Lord.
Jason and family would like to thank and acknowledge all those who showed kindness, not only to Maureen, but to our family during her illness. We will forever be grateful for our church family at St. George Baptist Church, the staff of Bayview Credit Union, and the local community at large who brought food, sent cards of encouragement, and prayed fervently. Your thoughtfulness and compassion never went unnoticed. Also, a very special thank you to Jane and Brian Ward for all that you have done. She loved you both!
We also do not want to forget Maureen’s special care team: Drs. Lim, Gray, Love, and Hemmings; the Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural Nurses, especially Alexis for being so kind and compassionate to Maureen; and the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital. You are all a blessing!
