Joseph "Raymond" Pitre

1948-2026

Joseph "Raymond" Pitre

The passing of Joseph "Raymond" Pitre, common law husband of Helen Richard of Redwater AB and formerly of Beaver Harbour NB, occurred at Redwater AB on July 5, 2026.

Born in Belldune NB on December 7, 1948, he was a son of the late Joseph A. Pitre and Mary A. "Ada" (Bertin) (Pitre) Everitt.

A loving partner, step-father, step-grandfather, brother and uncle, in addition to his partner of over 35 years, Helen, Raymond is survived by two step-daughters: Tina Simpson (Peter Myshak) of Edmonton AB and Tara Simpson of Peterborough ON; two step-grandchildren: Haley Roeske (Eric)  and Noah Lowes; two step-great-grandchildren: Elliot and Jackson; his brothers: Larry Pitre (Bonnie) of Pennfield NB and Victor Pitre (Brenda) of Beaver Harbour NB; sisters: Lynn Blanchard of Hamilton ON, Mary Kennedy of Blacks Harbour NB and Adella Thompson (Roger) of Pennfield NB; brother-in-law: Jim Richard of Beaver Harbour NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was predeceased by brothers: Zoel, Emile and Norman.

Prior to retirement Raymond spent most of his life on the water. He worked many years for Connors Bros in Blacks Harbour on the herring boats. Having moved to Alberta only a few short years ago, Raymond truly missed the east coast and the Bay of Fundy. A simple man, he enjoyed being surrounded by those he loved and his laugh could be heard by everyone in the room. His smile and sense of humor will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family invites those who knew and loved Raymond to a Celebration of his life being held at the St. George Curling Club, Marsh Lane, St. George NB on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. In his memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
