Evelyn Gertrude Hartley
1927-2025
The passing of Evelyn Gertrude (Hoyt) Hartley, wife of the late John "Jack" Hartley occurred at her residence in Mascarene NB on January 5, 2025. Born in Massachusetts on August 13, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Mason and Mildred (MacVicar) Hoyt.
Evelyn is survived by her chosen daughter, Susan Ingalls; chosen grandchildren: Sarah (Sahin) Karyuz and Jeff (Sarah) Ingalls; special cousins, Minnie, Susan and Sally, and many cousins.
Evelyn and her husband came to this area in 1967. She had come to the area as a child to stay with her grandparents, and upon a visit with her husband, they fell in love with the area and choose to make this home. They started a restaurant in St. George, called the Hartley House. She and Jack also had a boat and enjoyed boating in the local area for several years. In her spare time, bowling was her passion, and she bowled frequently until she was 93. Evelyn was a member of the Granite Town Seniors and the L’Etete Ladies Missionary Society.
A special thank you to Ruby Olsen, Kara Golding and Evelyn’s favourite handy man, Ross Barry. The care and support you provided allowed Evelyn to remain in her home over these last few years and this meant more to her than you will ever know.
In keeping with Evelyn’s wishes, there will be no visiting. A celebration of Evelyn's life will take place at her home, 407 Mascarene Road, Mascarene NB on January 25, 2025 beginning at 2:00 pm. In her memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
