Carl Douglas Hanley

1955-2024

Carl Douglas Hanley

Very unexpectedly at his home in Back Bay, NB on December 9, 2024 Carl Douglas Hanley went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus plus all his family which we know were waiting for him there.

Carl was born March 4, 1955 in St. Stephen, NB the youngest son of Beverley M. and A. Pauline (McCarty) Hanley. A loving husband to his wife Gloria (Curran), father to Chad (Krysta), father-in-law to Tiffany and grandfather to Chelsea (Austin) Dewar, Rebecca Hanley, Adara Hanley and Payton Hanley. Great grandfather to Nickson who was the love of his life and a great granddaughter coming in the spring of 2025. Brother to Cyril (Norma), Elery (Donna), Clifford (Ellamae), their sister Beryl (Caulder) Huckins and sister-in-law Mae Hanley.

Besides being predeceased by his parents, his son Delton Robert Hanley, his brothers Ronald (Hilda), Billy (Lorraine), Harold (Mary Lou), Garry (Marguerite and Jean), Royce and Delton B.

A carpenter by trade most of his life. Growing up in Back Bay you all started at the sardine factory, and he did. Working over the years at one time or another with most of his brothers. He was also one of the men who helped build the Sea View Full Gospel Church of which he was a member and past deacon. Carl was a good Christian man who loved the Lord and his family and friends very much. He also enjoyed helping others in any way that he could. Through the week for many years, he along with Royce, Elery and Clifford would go to town to have coffee and "make a plan" for the day. Carl was most blessed to have been the father of his two sons Chad and Delton. He was very proud of his boys and loved them with all of his heart. He enjoyed watching them grow up into good Christian men, husbands and fathers. He always enjoyed it when the kids would come to visit, it always made him lit up when they came whether for supper or just to sit and talk.

He and Gloria enjoyed traveling when they could, generally with Elery and Donna with New Hampshire being one of their favorite destinations, sometimes twice a year. In 2019 he finally got his bucket list trip to Newfoundland. He and Gloria took their beloved dog Coco and hooked up a travel trailer and off they went. That year they took many trips together, ending the year with a trip to Florida just before Christmas.

Carl was generally a quiet man, but every now and then he would let out a little mischief, especially singing The Little Talking Donkey song.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 12th at the Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay. A burial will take place directly after the service in the Back Bay Community Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home.
