Edith Thompson
1946-2024
It is with heavy heart that the family of Edith J. Thompson announce her unexpected passing on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Elmsville NB, Edith was the daughter of the late Roy Sr. and Hester (Craig) Hall. She was the beloved wife of 61 years to Gerald (Jerry) Thompson.
Edith was the heart and soul of her family and will be dearly
missed by all who loved her. Left to mourn, along with her husband
Jerry are her sons Mark (Kelly), Wade (Shelly) and Christoper
(Charla), her grandchildren Brandon (Jessica), Jordan (Laura) and
Tanner (Jennifer), great-grandchild Ezra, her brother Roy Hall Jr, her
sisters Karen (Ian) Webb, Anne (Claude) LaBerge, Berla Hall (Kevin),
her special sister in laws Sheryl, Jeanine and Joanne, along with
several nieces, nephew, cousins and treasured friends. In addition to
her parents, Edith was predeceased by her brothers Keith and Lewis,
and her sister Donna.
Edith was a social
butterfly who enjoyed meeting new people and connecting with her
lifelong friends. She cherished her many outings with her Red Hatter
group and often talked about the many adventures they had. She was
blessed to have a close relationship with her sisters and they spoke
to each other everyday no matter how far apart. Edith and Jerry were
fortunate to spend their retirement for several winters in the Florida
sun. Unsurprisingly, they cultivated a family in their home away from
home.
Prior to her retirement, Edith valued
her many years working with Coastal Transport for the summer on the
Grand Manan ferry. She felt a great connection to Grand Manan and
enjoyed her conversations with passengers from around the world. Above
all else, Edith adored family. She was a proud mother and embraced her
title of Nana. She will be greatly missed by all the hearts she
touched and will never be forgotten.
