Alma Marie Aucoin
1933-2024
It is with heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Alma Marie Aucoin at Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on November 17, 2024. Born in St. Charles NB on April 3, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Evangeline (Boucher) Gallant. A loving mother, mémère, grand-mémère and sister, Alma will be lovingly remembered by her children: Giles (Denise) Aucoin of Pennfield NB, Claudette (Charlie) Norman of St. George NB and Dianne (Brian) Samms of Beaver Harbour NB; grandchildren: Crystal, Amanda, Jennifer, Josh, Kristen, Shawn, Kati, Jason and Kari; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Imelda Blanchard of St. George NB and Thérèse Arsenault of Rogersville NB; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Alma was predeceased by one son: Claude Aucoin; three children in infancy: Mary, Patrick and Leo; her husband: Leo Aucoin; her brothers: Nazaire Gallant, Antoine Gallant and Laurie Gallant; and by one sister: Bertha Richard.
Prior to retirement, Alma worked for Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour as a packer. A devote Catholic, she took great pride in her Acadian heritage. Known as a kind and caring person, she loved her family deeply and her greatest joy was visits from her children and grandchildren. In her quiet time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, listening to music and dancing, which she was still known to do at the nursing home from time to time.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Fundy Nursing Home for the kind and compassionate care given to Alma during her stay.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Stella Maris Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Father Abelardo Sobredo officiating followed by the interment in the parish cemetery. Immediately following the interment, a reception will be held at Stella Maris Hall. In Alma’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
