Robert Emerson Spicer

1964-2024

Robert Emerson Spicer

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Emerson Spicer of Beaver Harbour at Saint John Regional Hospital on October 15, 2024, at the age of 60. Robert was born in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, on April 4th, 1964, to the late Malby and Mary (Tidd) Spicer.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Robert is survived by his loving wife Donna (Cooke) Spicer, his son James (Tracy Earle McFarlane) of Beaver Harbour, and his stepchildren: Veronica Taylor of Alberta, Melissa Crawford (Dustin Young) of Pennfield, David Crawford of Bonny River, Drew Barrio (Anne) of Lake Utopia, Christine Leeman (Carl) of Letang, and Vanessa Barrio (Mark Gallant) of Hillsdale.

He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Kyle Thorne of Alberta, Kohen Thorne of St. George, Alex Lomax (Katie Knight) of Alberta, Cameron Lomax of Saint John, Teighan Spicer of Saint John, Morgyn and Mya McFarlane of Beaver Harbour, Samantha Beaudry (Jon Bouchie) of Lake Utopia, Aleesha Barrio (JP Leggett) of Grand Bay, and Breeanna Barrio of Saint John; as well as his great-grandchildren: Brenna and Arizona Beaudry, Ava Donahue, and Noah Lomax.

Robert is also survived by his sister Sharon (Neil) Boudreau of Beaver Harbour, his brother Bedford (Paula) of Red Rock, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Ronald.

At the young age of 15, Robert began working in the fishing industry at the Connors Bros. Beaver Harbour plant.  A true jack of all trades, his roles included scallop dragging, lobster fishing, working on salmon sites, and at the Connor’s Bros. Back Bay plant.  He served as a supervisor at Cooke Aquaculture and Mowi.  In construction, he helped build residential foundations and undertook carpentry projects.  Additionally, he trimmed roadsides, picked tips, mowed lawns, and painted during the off-season.  Robert’s varied skills and dedication made him a valued and versatile worker throughout his life.

Robert’s heart was always in Beaver Harbour. He loved his family dearly and cherished his time with them. His fur babies, Teka and Sasha, were always curled up next to him whenever they could get there. He enjoyed golfing and hunting with his friends each year, cooking whenever he could, taking the trailer camping at Mactaquac every year, and listening to music.

On his journey in life, Robert gave his life to the Lord and was baptized, becoming a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He deeply appreciated his church family and cherished the support and care he received from them.

Robert will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Special thanks to Dr. Anderson, the nurses and doctors in the oncology unit, the palliative nurses and doctors at the Saint John Regional Hospital, and the local Extra Mural Nurses who provided such excellent care for Robert when he needed them.
