Mary Juanita Stewart

1928-2024

Mary Juanita Stewart

Mary Juanita (Lahey) Stewart, 95, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on September 14, 2024. She was born on December 17, 1928 on Grand Manan Island to the late Wilfred and Hazel (Ingersoll) Lahey and resided in Pennfield for the majority of her life.

Mary is survived by her loving and devoted children: Yvonne Morgan, Deanna (John) McGarry, Doug (Cecily) Stewart, and Doreen Stewart and her daughter-in-law, Carol Stewart. She was a cherished grandmother to Ashley (Tara), and Adrian Morgan; Matthew (Mandy), Andrew (Olive), and Daniel Stewart; Patrick (Allison), Rachel (Chris Brannon), Eric, and Anna McGarry, Sean Stewart, and Meghan (Corey) Stuart, as well as a beloved great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She also leaves behind her sister Pam (Fraser) Forsythe, brother-in-law Bill, and sisters-in-law Edna, Ethel, Joanne, and Margaret, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary had many interests throughout her life, but none more important to her than her family. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed a passion for knitting and gardening and was an avid reader. She was a member of the ACW, the Legion and the Senior’s Club.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Norman D. Stewart and her son Norman L. Stewart, brother Burton Lahey, sisters-in-law Laura, Dorothy, and Janice and brothers-in-law David and Glen.

There are no words to express our thanks and gratitude to mom’s caregivers Angela and Kim, and Beth and Ellen, whose friendship, devotion and kindness meant everything to Mom. Special thanks to Dr. Jane Ashfield for her guidance and support, to Home Support and to Extra Mural, St. George for their excellent care.
