Myra Catherine Andrews *UPDATED*

The passing of Myra Catherine (Janes) Andrews, loving and devoted wife of Keith D. Andrews of L’Etete NB, occurred peacefully at their residence surrounded by the love of her husband and children.

Born in Britannia NL, she was a daughter of the late Moses and Elizabeth (Hansford) Janes. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, in addition to her husband of 60 years, Keith, she is survived by her sons: James (Trudy) Andrews of Shediac NB and Douglas (Jennifer) Andrews of Moncton NB; her four grandchildren: James, Emily, Alex Jane and Owen; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Myra was predeceased by one brother: Robert (Linda) Janes; her sisters: Julia Janes, Allison (Clarence) Bowering and Shirley (Merlin) Mills; a special aunt: Annie Hansford; and her in-law-family, parents-in-law, James and Clara (Wallace) Andrews; and sister-in-law: Mary Lou (Harold) Hanley.

Following her high school graduation in Britannia NL, Myra attended the Grace Hospital School of Nurses’ Training and graduated in 1958. From there, Myra continued her studies, taking a Post-Graduate Course in Psychiatry at the Hospital of Mental and Nervous Diseases in St. John’s NL. Upon completion of her studies, she served at Botwood and Burgeo Cottage Hospitals in Newfoundland and held the position of Assistant Head Nurse at the Banting Memorial Hospital for a number of years as well as Head Nurse of Pediatrics at the James Payton Memorial Hospital in Gander NL. Upon moving to New Brunswick, she worked in hospitals in Fredericton, Moncton and retired from the Salvation Army Residence in Riverview NB.

Since their retirement, Myra and Keith have travelled extensively and enjoyed their many adventures together. In her quite time, Myra enjoyed knitting and being in the company of her friends and family, who always came first.

The family wishes to thank the Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural for all their care and support for Myra over the last few years.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with Myra’s wishes, there will be no visiting. A graveside service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 2:00 pm. In Myra’s memory, donations to the L'Etete Church of Christ would be appreciated by the family.
