Dennis Wade Harris

1964-2024

Dennis Wade Harris

It is with great sadness that the family of Dennis Wade Harris, of Blacks Harbour, N.B., announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on August 10, 2024. Dennis was born in Blacks Harbour to the late Leonard and Shirley (Mahar) Harris on July 10, 1964.

Dennis’ life changed when he met the love of his life. He is survived by his wife Aldena, his sister Rhonda (Tony) Dempsey, his Higgins family in-laws Susan (Roswell) Hall, Maggie Hanley, Jim (Marci) Higgins, Marilyn Blanchard and Danny McKinley and by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws Joseph and Evangeline, sister-in-law Cathy McKinley, brothers-in-law Farren and Rickey and his niece Dawna.

His work experience began at Connors Brothers in the processing area, then on to seasonal work for the village of Blacks Harbour and at the arena with Pete and Ricky in the winter. Then he decided to try his hand at custodial work for the school district. Before having to retire in 2019, Dennis loved being part of the staff at Blacks Harbour School.

Dennis loved all things sports. The Angels and Canadiens were his teams. He was an arena rat who also enjoyed local hockey "cheering" exuberantly in the stands with his booming voice. He and his wife were members of the successful softball team, "One Hurtin Unit" with lots of balls pitched and lots of fun had. He also had a love for going hunting with good friends and camping at Hilltop with Aldena. Dennis loved music and always had tunes playing.

Dennis suffered many years with heart disease and we would like to thank "Our Hero" surgeon, Dr. Hassan, for giving Dennis’ family extra time with him. A special thanks to Dr. Bewick and nurse Jennifer for their care over the last six years. Also, thank you to 4CN’s Dr. Mario and staff for the excellent care and compassion Dennis received over the last two weeks.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Tuesday from 6-9 pm. The service will take place from Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Canon Caleb Twinamatsiko officiating followed by the interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Dennis’ memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
