Belva Christine Hooper

The passing of Belva Christine (Leavitt) Hooper occurred peacefully on July 23, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family by her side. Born in L’Etang, NB on February 21, 1934 to the late Roland and Susan (Spinney) Leavitt.

She was a devoted wife for nearly 58 years to Charles, a loving grandmother to Susan Hall and "Bebe" to her special boys Jacob and Aiden Mott. Belva is also survived by her brother Eugene (Dorothy) Leavitt of Cobble Hill, BC, son-in-law Roy Hall of Bonny River, NB, her special niece Stacey Mott of Saint John NB, several nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, step-grandchildren Michelle Hall and William Hall, step-great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Paul (Rhona) Hooper and Phillip (Anita) Hooper, sisters-in-law Verna, Carolyn and Bernice.

In addition to her parents, Belva was predeceased by her daughter Christine Hall, and by brothers-in-law Harvey, Kenny and Rodney.

Belva was an employee of NBTel for 37 years. She began her career as a telephone operator in St. George before transferring to Saint John where she carried out the remainder of her working years. When able, she loved traveling, reading and knitting. Belva was a member of the Calvary Temple Church in Saint John for over 40 years, where she made lasting friendships with many. Belva will be sadly missed by all who knew her. 

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay, NB from where the service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm with Pastor Paul Legere and Pastor Chad Nickerson officiating, followed by the interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church will take place on Thursday beginning at Noon until service time. In Belva’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
