Barbara "Barb" Jean Craig

1936-2024

Barbara "Barb" Jean Craig Barbara "Barb" Jean Craig Barbara "Barb" Jean Craig

Barb was born and raised in Bayswater, NB and attended local schools, graduating from Saint John Vocational School (Harbourview High School) in 1954. She became a Legal Secretary, a Realtor, Homemaker, loving and loyal Wife and Mother. Her first secretarial jobs were at legal firms in Saint John and later in Detroit, Michigan. She and Cal CRAIG married in 1959 and moved to Ottawa, ON. They later resided in Ottawa, ON, Aylmer, QC and in Nova Scotia (Pictou, Dartmouth, Halifax and Yarmouth). Not only was she a fine Homemaker, but also enjoyed working outside the home for a few years as a Realtor for Montreal Trust in Dartmouth and Halifax. Following that, she worked as an employee of Public Works Canada in Halifax and Saint John for twelve years. Her pleasant, sociable personality always made others at ease, and as a result she made many lifelong friends along the way. She was quick witted, strong willed and disciplined, bright, creative, and hard-working. She was well regarded and loved by all.

After moving to St. George (Bonny River), she involved herself in church, the community and the Red Hat Society. Her Bonny River log home was definitely her happy place. The scenery, wildlife, flowers and solitude brought her much joy. She supported and greatly assisted her husband in genealogical studies, reports and books and was a member of the Schizophrenia Society in NS and NB, the New Brunswick Genealogical Society and the United Empire Loyalists. She obtained two UE designations, (with respect to her early ancestors John WHITE and Lieut. John WIGHTMAN). Barb’s happiest days were those spent with her children, grandchildren, her cherished friends and with Cal in their Roadtrek motorhome or on Cruises. During her final years at Parkland-Shannex in Saint John she met many good friends and always appreciated the helpful and caring staff. She really enjoyed life at Parkland, especially when she was singing and dancing.

Barb passed away at Tucker Hall, Parkland-Shannex on July 19, 2024, and is survived by her husband, Calvin Lee CRAIG, daughters Jennifer and Leslie, son Jonathan; son-in-law Ronald J. ROY and daughter-in-law Maryse (Lanteigne) CRAIG; grandchildren Ryan Craig ROY, Liam Jospeh ROY, and Laura Emmalene ROY; sister-in-law, Patricia (Williams) LINTON and numerous Craig, Lee, Linton and White Cousins. Barb was pre-deceased by her parents Jospeh L. and Lena M.V. (White) LINTON, brother Thomas LINTON, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
