Constance "Connie" Elaine Leslie
1931-2024
Connie died peacefully with good care from Compassus Hospice and the team at Scarborough Terrace in Scarborough, Maine. Born in Calais, Maine, she was the middle child of Lionel and Helen Leslie of Deer Island, New Brunswick. In 1952 Connie graduated from Gorham State Teacher's College in Maine and began a career as a second-grade teacher in Portland, Maine.
Following retirement in 1983 she enjoyed travel, particularly
to England with friends. For many years she spent time on Deer Island,
frequently traveling with a neighbor. Connie knit, especially hats and
blankets, and donated them to folks in need. She also kept collections
of teacups, British keepsakes, and newspaper articles.
Upon her death her cremains went to Deer Island where
she was interred in the family gravesite with her cousin Dick
Richardson attending.
Arrangements were coordinated by Hobbs Funeral Home (South
Portland, Maine), Mays Funeral Home (Calais, Maine), and St. George
Funeral Home (St. George, New Brunswick).
