Ramona Joan Vance

1946-2024

Ramona Joan Vance Ramona Joan Vance Ramona Joan Vance

With tremendous sadness, the family of Ramona Joan (Thorne) Vance, devoted wife of Gary Vance, announce her sudden passing at her home on March 22, 2024. Ramona was born on May 7, 1946 to the late Clifton and Marie (Kingston) Thorne.

Ramona was a hard and multi-talented worker her entire life. Whether it be waitressing in her early years, to managing a takeout restaurant and convenience store, to co-owning and managing Vance’s Garage with her husband, and most recently her son, for countless years, and was still actively working until the time of her passing. Ramona loved and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including a clean and shiny car, her flower gardens, going to yard sales, Bangor shopping with her BFF’s Brenda, Donna and Paulette, purses and shoes and eating out just to name a few. But most importantly, she deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her a huge amount of pride and joy. She had a big and generous heart, an infectious smile, and was a friendly face to many in the community.

Besides Gary, her husband of 56 years, Ramona is survived by her son Kevin (Joan), her daughter Julie Craig (Aaron), grandchildren Kate (Mark), Alec, Hannah, Addison, Sophy and Bryce, great-grandson Hudson, daughter-in-law Jennifer Vance, her mother-in-law Avis Vance of Fundy Nursing Home, her sisters Mary Young (Roger) and Patty Frost (Mort), her brothers Clifton (Deanie), Bobby (Belinda), Joseph (Debbie) and Chris (Brenda), sisters-in-law Nancy Thorne Deveau (Raymond) and Paulette Kehl (Robert), brothers-in-law Larry (Kim), Wayne (Diana) and Greg, her special friends Brenda Barry, Donna Coutts and Paulette Wentworth, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a community of friends. In addition to her parents, Ramona was predeceased by her brothers Edward and David, father-in-law Norman Vance, sister-in-law Barbara Thorne.
