Victor Eugene Bradford

1954-2024

Victor Eugene Bradford

Victor E. Bradford of Canal, New Brunswick, passed away with his girls at his side at the Charlotte County Hospital on Thursday, January 4, 2024 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Victor, known as Vic, was born on May 24, 1954 in St Stephen, NB. His passing marks the end of four generations of Victor Bradfords.

Vic is survived by his two daughters Amy Hatt and Erica (Matt) Stuart of St. George; the mother of his children, Margaret Stuart; grandchildren Sullivan Hatt, and Oliver and Nora Stuart. He is also survived by his twin brother Roy (Mary) Bradford and younger brother Larry (Sandra) Bradford both of Deer Island; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Victor was predeceased by his parents, Victor (E. L.) and Caroline (H.) Bradford.

Vic graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Forest Engineering.  Upon graduation, he moved to Northwestern Ontario to pursue his forestry career with Great Lakes Paper.  Following the birth of his daughter Amy, the family relocated to Deer Island where he was employed with Connors Bros. Ltd.  Vic later worked at Heritage Salmon in Black’s Harbour until his early retirement due to the progression of MS.

Vic was an avid outdoorsman who spent his springs fishing, his summers on the salt water, his falls hunting and his winters cutting wood. His daughters were never far behind him, eager to learn the next survival skill.  He taught them to shoot guns, drive his Honda Big-Red, catch fish and tie knots.  He was known to bring home orphaned animals in his beanie, much to the delight of his girls.  If Vic wasn't in a boat, at the camp, riding his motorcycle or in a tree stand he was sure to be sharing a yarn with anyone who would listen.  His love of nature will continue to be passed down through the generations.

The family would like to say a special thank-you to the care givers who helped allow Dad stay in his home as long as possible.
