Mary Catherine Ellsworth

The passing of Mary Catherine Ellsworth of Saint John NB occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on December 31, 2023. She was born in Saint John NB to the late Henry "Harry" and Gertrude (Malone) Ellsworth.

Mary is survived by her two sisters: Anne (Daniel) Szymanowski of Merrimack NH and Patricia Ellsworth of Fredericton NB; her nieces and nephews: Erika (Mark) McFarland, Martin (Lindsay) Brown, Patricia (Guy) Chouinard, Michael (Melissa) Szymanowski, Shawn (Kathryn) Ellsworth and Ian (Stephanie) Ellsworth and by several cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brothers: Paul (in infancy) and John Ellsworth; and by her aunts and uncles: George and Joan Ellsworth, Jim and Alice Ellsworth, Marguerite and John Maloney, Beth Malone and Marge Malone.

Prior to retirement, Mary’s career was in the Federal Public Service for Veterans Affairs Canada (Veterans Land Act). She truly loved her job and devoted her heart and soul to it. Mary enjoyed reading, travelling, music and going to dances. Mary loved visiting with her family and friends, and always made this a priority in her life.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 2-4 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Stella Maris Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 am with Msgr. Brian Sheehan officiating followed by the interment at the St. George Catholic Cemetery. In Mary’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
