Burton Douglas Arbeau

The passing of Burton Douglas Arbeau of Rusagonis, NB, and formerly of St. George, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on December 3, 2023. Born in St. George, NB, on March 3, 1939, he was a son of the late Stanley and Celia (Lee) Arbeau.

A loving father, grandfather, and brother, Burton is survived by his children: Susan Arbeau (Norman Hamilton) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Kari (Roger) Merrithew of Plaster Rock, NB, Kevin Arbeau of Fredericton, NB, Kirby Arbeau (Monique Franklin) of Saskatoon, SK and Patrick Armstrong of Memramcook, NB; his grandchildren: Jeffrey Arbeau (Lindsay Jacquard) of Saint John, NB, Jenna Arbeau (Graeme McBriarty) of Saint John, NB, Erin Merrithew (Luke Sappier) of Neqotkuk First Nation, NB, Emma Merrithew (Nate Longaphy) of Rusagonis, NB, Madelyne Arbeau of Saskatoon, SK, Nathanael Arbeau of Saskatoon, SK, and Braydon Armstrong of Memramcook, NB; siblings: Sandra (James) Baxter of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, Russell (Carol) Arbeau of Lepreau, NB, Mary Lou (Roger) Gagnon of St. Stephen, NB, and Gloria Arbeau of Mississauga, ON,; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and his wife Marilyn (Seeley) Arbeau, he was predeceased by two brothers: Lawrence and James Arbeau.

Prior to retirement Burton was a heavy equipment mechanic by trade and was employed by the Department of Transportation. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Burton was known as a collector and collected pretty much everything. He enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for making and sharing his pies. He loved listening to music, especially country and gospel. Burton was also a Ford man who enjoyed traveling when able. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

The family would especially like to thank the care team at the Orchard View Nursing home in Gagetown NB during the last 5 years.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with Burton’s wishes there will be no visiting or service at this time. All services will be held in the spring, at a date and time to be announced. In Burton’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice or to a food bank of the donor’s preference would be appreciated by the family.
