Weltha Madeline Fountain

Weltha Madelene Fountain, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished "Nan", peacefully passed away at the Charlotte County Hospital surrounded by her family, on December 1, 2023.Born on June 1, 1923 at L’Etete, New Brunswick, she was a daughter to the late Richard and Eddis (Leavitt) Brown. She was the oldest of seven children.

Weltha is survived by her two daughters: Sheila (David) Kernighan of St. George and Joan (Kevin) Frye of Deer Island; sister Sue Ross of Ontario; she leaves behind a legacy of love that extends to her five grandchildren: Donnie (Paula), Leighanne (Paul), Jolene (Troy), Jared (Krista), Jenna (Tyson), as well as 10 great grandchildren: Erin-Lee, Donnie-Allen, Megan, Emma, Sara, Brooklyn, Addisson, Aidyn, Kohan, and Kylah; close friends Loraine Cline and Marg Lord. Weltha was predeceased by her husband of 56 years "Don" Donald Fountain, brothers: Hobb, Jimmy, Richard and sisters: Jeannie and Lorraine.

An avid sock knitter and bread baker, Weltha could be found at home (her happy place) watching the birds out one window and the ferry cars out the other. Her love of berry picking, and strawberry jam was next level. Weltha lead a faith filled life of simplicity with her Bible being her number one possession. Putting family before herself she was always around to help out whenever she could, be it laundry, childcare, or cooking family suppers.

In keeping with Weltha’s wishes an immediate family only graveside service will take place on Sunday, December 3 at Mount Hope Cemetery with Gilbert Stuart officiating.

Arrangements have been trusted to the caring guidance of the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George N.B.

Weltha’s love for the Lord and her enduring legacy of family will forever be remembered in the hearts of all who knew her.
