The passing of Joseph Alfred Roy Palk occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on November 19, 2023. Born at Pennfield NB, on January 2, 1943, he was a son of the late Roy H. and Imelda A. (Michaud) Palk.

A loving father, grandfather, and brother, he is survived by his three daughters: Gail Palk of Moncton NB, Tammy (Andrew) Palk-McKenna and Lisa Palk both of Saint John NB; three grandsons: Joel, Fabian, and Curtis; his siblings: Alice (Peter) Boudreau of Beaver Harbour, Brenda (Robert) of Saint John, Philip Palk of Winnipeg, Leo (Lorraine) Palk of St. George, Doreen Gaudet of Geary and Cecil (Linda) Palk of Beaver Harbour; special friend: Terry Thompson; his loving four-legged companion: Charlie; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Alfie was predeceased by his brothers: Gregory in infancy, Gaetan, and sister, Mary Ann Justason.

Prior to his retirement, Alfie worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator for several years, a trade which took him across Canada. He lived in many provinces and worked on multiple mega projects such as Belldune and Point Lepreau, from the Oil Sands to the Confederation Bridge as well as many more. Alfie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gathering with his friends for a Friday night game of cards. He had a love for classic cars and spent many hours attending the races in Geary. When able, Alfie could be frequently seen with his four-legged companion, Charlie, cruising to destinations unknown.

The family would also wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the CCU at the Charlotte County Hospital, as well as the Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural staff for their kind, compassionate, and professional care shown to Alfie. In Alfie’s memory, donations to the New Brunswick Lung Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with Alfie’s wishes there will be no visiting or service. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
