Peter Paul Seelye
1948-2023

The passing of Peter Paul Seelye, husband of the late Patricia (Mahar) Seelye, of Blacks Harbour NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on October 20, 2023 with his family at his side. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on April 3, 1948, he was a son of the late Murchie and E. Bernice (Hennessey) Seelye. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Peter is survived by his children: Tracy (Naomi) Seelye of Quispamsis NB and Tanya (David) Tucker of Utopia NB; his grandchildren: Stephen, Taylor, Rowan, Joshua (Caitlin) and James; great-grandchildren: Charlotte and Benson; brothers: David (Betty) Seelye of L’Etang NB, Johnny (Rose) Seelye of Utopia NB, Mark (Bonnie) Seelye of Blacks Harbour NB, Chris Seelye (Patsy Blanchard) of St. George NB and Freddie (Anne) Seelye of Bocabec NB; sisters: Bonnie Hooper of Oak Bay NB, Mary (Alphonse) Blanchard of Blacks Harbour NB, Nancy (Dale) Welles of Beaver Harbour NB and Paula (Bedford) Spicer of Red Rock NB; one brother-in-law: David Gaudett of Pennfield NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, Peter was predeceased by one brother: Eugene Seelye; and by one sister: Lorraine Gaudett.
Prior to his retirement, Peter worked for more than 25 years
as a labourer with Connors Brothers and was well known by everyone in
the packing room. He was an avid sports fan who loved to play darts
and cheer on his favourite sport teams, the Blue Jays and the Leafs.
He was also a member and former past president of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Branch #39, Blacks Harbour. Peter loved the outdoors and
enjoyed fishing and beach combing, often searching for sea glass. He
was a kind and compassionate man and was known to give any one a hand
and would give his shirt off his back, never asking for anything in
return. Peter will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George
Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at
the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour NB with visiting on
Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service will be held from the church
on Tuesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ken Banks officiating followed by the
interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Peter’s
memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would
be appreciated by the family.
