John Lawrence Dolan

1927-2023

John Lawrence Dolan

The passing of John Lawrence Dolan, husband of the late Marie Virginia (Coleman) Dolan formerly of Fairhaven NB, occurred at the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB on September 29, 2023. Born in Boston MA on December 5, 1927, he was a son of the late Harold and Ellen (McCarthy) Dolan. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother, John is survived by his children: Susan (Leigh) Cline of Fairhaven NB, Larry (Deborah) Dolan of Massachusetts, Caroline Price of St. Andrews NB and David (Bonita) Dolan of St. Stephen NB; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; siblings: Dorothy Small and Gerald Dolan both of Massachusetts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, John was predeceased by his son-in-law: Blair Price; and by siblings: Helen, Harold, James and Catherine.

Prior to retirement, John worked in carpentry. He was a veteran, having served with the US Army from March 1948 until March of 1952. John truly was a simple man who enjoyed tinkering around the house and at one time owned and operated the "Clam Cove Bed & Breakfast" with his late wife, Marie. Anyone who knew John knew he devoted his life to the Deer Island Volunteer Fire Department, where he once served as Fire Chief. An animal lover to a fault, John was known to bring home any strays he found. Though he will be missed, we take comfort in knowing he and Marie are reunited again.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. A graveside service for both John and Marie will be held at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery, Calder’s Head NB on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 2:00 pm with Glenn Cox officiating. In John’s memory, donations to Passamaquoddy Lodge or to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
