Barbara Armstrong Hatt

1941-2023

Barbara Armstrong Hatt

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Armstrong Hatt (Bennett), age 82, of St. George on Thursday, September 28th, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 29, 1941 in Pennfield, N.B. to the late Basil and Jessie "Betty" Bennett.

Two of the most important things in Barbs life was her devotion to God and her family. Always kind, patient and loving to them and her friends. She loved and was loved by all. Her family, church family, neighbors, breakfast friends and her treasured "flamingo girls". Barb always had a special cheer about her whenever she was with her family, and she absolutely adored her Grand Children and Great Grand Children.

As a young housewife Barb babysat many children, waitressed, and worked at Connors Bros for many years. Loved to read, puzzle, fish and share her famous baking. Bread and donuts at the top of the list!

We can’t forget her true life friend in John Smith, they both were avid fans of the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed hunting and fishing together.  She loyally followed the Blue Jays through all the good times and bad times. (well most of them)

On the day before her passing she was gifted with a vision from God that she was standing in a field of clover with blue skies and a warm breeze.  She was truly at peace to join her heavenly God. A lady we could all take some valuable lessons from.

Barb is survived by and will be dearly missed by her children, Michael Hatt, Pennfield; Debbie (Rick) Doucet, St. George; Peter (Carrie) Hatt, Fort MacMurray, and Barry (Susan) Hatt, Fredericton; grandchildren, Nicole (Adam), Jonathan (Jessica), Meagan (Katherine), Matthew (Meghan), Kelsey, Carolyn (David), Blake and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Alec, William, Gus and Scottie. She is also survived by her brother, Mervin, her beautiful nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters, Joan Justason, Connie Hatt, Julia Ann Bennett and her very special friend John Smith. The family wishes to express thanks and gratitude to all those who cared for her, especially the outstanding Charlotte County Extramural team.

Visitation will be held in the Pennfield Baptist Church on Sunday, October 1st from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00–8 :00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Pennfield Baptist Church on Monday, October 2nd  at 2:00 pm with Rev.
