Maynard Gordon Locke

The passing of Maynard Gordon Locke, husband of Linda (Ingalls) Locke of Grand Manan NB occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on April 17, 2023. Born on Grand Manan on March 18, 1951, he was a son of the late Gordon and M. Louise (French) Locke. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Linda, Maynard is survived by his children: Cindy Locke of Grand Manan NB, Jason Locke of Pennfield NB and Jamie Locke also of Grand Manan NB; four grandchildren: Kajle, Garrett, Jordan and Robbie; several great-grandchildren; his siblings: Shirley (Paul) Brown, Mary Nell (Sandy) Flagg, Allen Locke, Cathy Linton all of Grand Manan NB and Heather Lahey of Saint John NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Maynard was predeceased by one brother: Phillip French.

Prior to retirement, Maynard worked as a fisherman for all his life. An avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, he also had a passion for classic cars. When able, Maynard enjoyed a good card game and the comradery with his friends, the Ingalls Head Green Boys. He had a special friend and sidekick, Barry, who spent many hours together watching TV and going for drives to the wharf to check on his boat and to chat with local fisherman in Ingalls head. A true family man, Maynard loved nothing more than to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with Maynard’s wishes, there will be no visiting or service. In his memory, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
