Allison Arthur Thomas

We are sad to announce the passing of Allison Arthur Thomas, beloved husband of Zelda (Graham) Thomas of North Head NB, who passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on April 14, 2023. Born at Grand Manan NB on July 11, 1936 he was a son of the late Walter and Emma (Small) Thomas.

He is survived by his beloved wife Zelda of 55 years, his sister; Margaret Mersereau and his niece; Aleta Hayden both of Fredericton NB as well as his nephew; Walter Mersereau of Sydney NS; sister in law Marjorie (Graham) Davidson of Grand Manan NB, niece; Lianne (late Rex) Harris of Grand Manan NB, Jody (Michele) Graham of Memremcook NB, Dalton (Harris ((Jesse), Ashley Harris (Pat Cronk), Ethan Graham (Danielle Wilkons), Megen Graham (Brady Russell), all great nieces and great nephews of Grand Manan NB as well as other great great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings: Pauline Lee (Chett), Maudie (Robert) French, Harold and his brother-in-law Jack Mersereau as well  as Marie Thomas.

Allison spent many years on the water working on "The Old Black Boat"as well as several years lobster fishing, He was the oldest fisherman on Grand Manan, having bought his licence for 25 cents. He can usually be found down on the North Head wharf checking on his boat and talking to others.

Allison had many friends and both he and Zelda have done many things for people to help them out as well as playing secret Santa for the children. If you went to their home, you were always welcome and if he was inside, he would probably come out of his den where he had been listening to the radio or checking the weather. There are so many things that could be said but I know he wouldn’t like a long speech. Always love and always be missed. As the "Sunrise’s" each day, we will always remember.

In keeping with Allison’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. In his memory, donations to the Grand Manan Hospital Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
