Leah Louise Lord

1951-2023

Leah Louise Lord

Surrounded by her family the passing of Leah Louise (Chaffey) Lord, wife of David Lord of Fairhaven, Deer Island occurred at their home on April 12, 2023 after a courageous battle with Cancer. She was the only child born to the late James and Alma (Lambert) Richardson, on August 30, 1951 in Blacks Harbour, NB.

Leah had various careers through her life; she started working first for Connors Brothers in the Deer Island Factory as a labourer, she then worked with her husband David as a caretaker for the Deer Island Point Campground, moving to H.W. Welch Store as a clerk and on to Paturel International for several years where she made many friends, the finally to Deer Island Community School where she worked in the cafeteria; a job that she loved because she shared her love for people by feeding them. She was a member of the MacDougall Lake Campers Association, and her passion for helping others lead her to many volunteer endeavors. Her passions included puzzles, reading, cooking and entertaining guests. She enjoyed her tea with Linda and Elle and spending time with her family.

Besides her husband of over 54 years, David; Leah is survived by her son, John Lord of Saint John; daughters: Heather Goss of Pennfield and Crystal Winters (Darryle) of Canal; three grandchildren: Justin, Lilly and Taylor. She was predeceased by her parents and grandson, John.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. A graveside service for Leah will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 12:00 Noon at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery with Pastor Richard Hovey officiating.
