Ivan Joseph Anthony Richard

Surrounded by his family, the passing of Ivan Joseph Anthony Richard, husband of Kathleen "Kaye" (Boyd) Richard of Pennfield NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on April 4, 2023. Born in St. Charles NB on May 6, 1950, he was a son of the late Edmond and Laura (Leblanc) Richard. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Kaye, Ivan is survived by his two daughters: Laurie (Thomas) Patterson of Back Bay, NB and Jennifer (Eric) Lee of St. George NB; grandchildren: Keaton, Dylan, Lilly and Jaxen; his brothers: Ola (Maureen) of St. George NB. Ernie (Susan) of Utopia NB, Gerald (Irene) of Utopia NB and Emile (Rose) of St. Charles NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Ivan was predeceased by one brother: Paul; and sisters: Emerise Maillet and Denise Richard.

Ivan left Blacks Harbour at 16 and went to Toronto to find work. He came back 2 years later and worked for Connors Brothers; leaving Connors to work at the Lake Utopia Mill; tended bar at McKays where he met Kaye his wife to be; helped build Point Lepreau and finally settled down and joined Stebbins Local 900 worked there until his retirement. He was also a well-known plumber who served the local and surrounding area for many years. He truly was a road runner, never staying home and loved striking up a conversation with those he met on the way. An avid outdoorsman, Ivan enjoyed both hunting and fishing.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. In keeping with Ivan’s wishes, all services will be private. In his memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
