Donald Edgar Bradford

At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on April 4, 2023, Mr. Donald Edgar Bradford Jr., husband of Evelyn (MacDougall) Bradford of Utopia NB went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on April 25, 1941, he was a son of the late Donald Edgar and Cora Sevella (Burrell) Bradford. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Evelyn, Donnie is survived by his daughters: Wendy Bradford of Saint John NB and Necole Bradford (Cory Leavitt) of Beaver Harbour NB; his sons: Wayne Bradford of Kitchener ON, Shawn (Carla) Bradford of Breadalbane NB and Scott (Simone) Bradford of Ottawa ON; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Judy Bradford (Doreen Booth) of Saint John NB and Dolores (Doug) Lockhart of Riverview NB; daughter-in-law: JoAnn Bradford of Lower Sackville NS; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Donnie was predeceased by one son: Dana Bradford; brothers: Harold, Roy, Freddy and Burrell; sisters: Prena Deveau, Stella Steeves, Ann Gaudett, Donaldine McGarrigle, Twilia Rhynold and Irene Gagne.

Prior to his retirement Donnie began his career by attending teachers’ college in 1959 and taught school for one year in Campobello. He then left his teaching position to go to work for Connors Brothers as an Electrician and later became the Electrical Supervisor. Donnie continued to upgrade his education through night school and became an Electrical Engineer. He retired from Connors Brothers when he was 63, although staying on as a consultant, and then went to work for Silk Stevens in St. George where he remained until the age of 78. Donnie was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing when able. He was known as a collector, who enjoyed collecting coins, stamps and vinyl records. He was also a sports enthusiast who loved hockey and baseball and was a former member of the Brunswick Curling Club. Continuing education was always one of his hobbies and he loved to be surrounded by books and knowledge. Donnie was a former member of the New Brunswick Fish and Game Association as well as the Wildlife Federation where he once served as President. Donnie was a very spiritual person who loved his Lord and Savior and enjoyed serving in his Church. He served as a worship leader for several years with Pastor Fred Farren at the Four Squares Gospel Church as well as recently serving as a board member with Gateway Cathedral in St. Stephen. He will be remembered by many as a reliable person and was once referred to by a former employer as a beautiful mind. The three things that were most important to Donnie were Evelyn, his family and his faith. He will be forever loved by his family and friends.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service will be held from the Gateway Cathedral, St. Stephen NB on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gordon Walsh officiating.
