Neil Grovenor Guptill

The passing of Neil Grovenor Guptill occurred on March 13, 2023 at the Grand Manan Nursing Home after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born on Grand Manan Island on July 19, 1938, he was a son to the late Celia Guptill McDowell (Ingalls) and Harding Guptill.

A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, he is survived by his daughter: Kimberly Bellefleur(Gilles); grandsons: Graham Walton and Joshua Walton(Jill); great grandchildren: Connor Belliveau, Sarah Walton, and  Jacob Walton; brothers: Claude Guptill (Janice "Jan") and Kerry Guptill, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In his younger years, Neil worked briefly in Fredericton at Hart Shoes before joining his father on the "Clauneker" , delivering boat loads of herring to Connors Brothers factories. He loved Dodge trucks and was known for being very fussy about his mashed potatoes. Neil was a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan and was forever hopeful the Toronto Maple Leafs would win the Stanley cup again.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to his special friends Eloise Pierce, Cathy O’Neill and David Hepditch, and the wonderful staff at the Grand Manan Nursing Home for all their loving care and kindness.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Honoring the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Graveside service for family and friends who wish to pay their respect to be held at Maple Grove Cemetery on May 20, 2023 at 12 noon. In Neil’s memory, donations to the Grand Manan Nursing Home foundation would be appreciated by the family.
