Donna Winnifred Hunnewell

Donna Winnifred Hunnewell passed away suddenly on October 24, 2022 at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, NB. Born in St. George, NB on February 21, 1945, Donna was the youngest daughter of the late Douglas and Doris Maxwell. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Donna valued the time she was able to spend with her family.

She is survived by: her daughter Lindsey Hunnewell and son Stephen Hunnewell, along with his wife Angela and their daughter Gabrielle (Gabby) of St. George, NB; her brother Richard (Dick) Maxwell of Rothesay, NB; her sister Nancy Hart and husband Alan of Quispamsis, NB; her sister-in-law Barbara Maxwell of Burlington, ON; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Roger Hunnewell of St. George, NB; her brother Vernon Maxwell of Burlington, ON; her sister-in-law Ruth Maxwell of Rothesay, NB; and her aunt Alice (Pim) Boyd of St. George, NB.

Prior to her retirement, Donna was a florist for more than three decades in St. George as the owner of Maxwell the Florist. She loved working with her hands, gardening, and adding her artistic flair to all of her projects. She enjoyed being outdoors and was heavily involved with the Girl Guides of Canada organization as a Leader, District Commissioner, and Lifetime Member. When she wasn’t in the flower shop or camping with the Girl Guides, you could usually find her sharing quality time with her family at the lake.

Donna was a strong-willed, smart, and compassionate woman. In recent years, she loved being able to share a laugh with her friends and family who would visit. Her greatest joy was spending time with Gabby and she truly cherished being her "Grammie". The kindness and love she shared will not be forgotten.

Arrangements are in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Caleb Twinamatsiko officiating followed by the interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Donna's memory, donations to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation Cardiac Rehab Program, the Alzheimer's Society or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
