Daniel Gordon Abbott

The passing of Daniel Gordon Abbott, loving and devoted husband of Marina (Piercey) Abbott of Back Bay NB and formerly of Hermitage NL occurred peacefully with his family by his side at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on September 23, 2022. Born in Hermitage NL on July 27, 1956, he was a son of the late Clayton and Elsie (Gaulton) Abbott. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife of 44 years, Marina, Dan is survived by his children: Vanessa Loveless (Justin) of St. George NB, Charlie Abbott (Angie) of Edmonton AB and Dean Abbott (Shavon) also of Edmonton AB; his cherished grandchildren: Evan, Hannah, Jaxson, Delaney, Shayne, Kaydence, Selene and Madison; seven brothers; seven sisters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Dan was predeceased by one sister.

Prior to retirement, Dan worked for Cooke Aquaculture. A man of simple pleasures he loved being in the company of his wife and family, especially his grandchildren. Dan was often found with a camera in hand and loved taking photos of many things but truly enjoyed capturing sunsets and lighthouses. He would often submit his work to the news and took great pride in his photos being aired and viewed by many. In his younger days in Newfoundland he enjoyed moose hunting and was a member of the local volunteer fire department in Hermitage. In his free time you would often see Dan out for walks and enjoying the peace that living by the ocean provided.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. As keeping with Dan's wishes, he will be taken back to Hermitage NL and be laid to rest near his family. In his memory, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
