Esther Susie Benson

On September 22, 2022 at the Grand Manan Nursing Home, Esther Susie Benson age 90 was ushered to her heavenly home to be greeted by her Saviour and loving Friend.

Born on December 7, 1931, she was the only daughter of the late Robert and Leone (Green) Bagley. Esther was predeceased by her husband of 70 years David G. Benson, her brothers Craig & Vernon Bagley, and grandson Benjamin Benson. Although sadly missed by her six children — Allen (Bonnie), Pam, Susie (Roger), Tony (Debbie), Jeff (Marcia), and Zane (Janet) — her devotion and love for each of them will live forever in their hearts.

Esther devoted her life praying, listening, training, loving and encouraging her family. She was extremely proud of her children’s accomplishments.

Entering her kitchen was a haven of sweet aromas from baking bread, and renowned, delicious desserts always served from a willing heart.

Grammie’s legacy will live on through her 15 grandchildren — Teena, Bucky, Apryl, Kurt, Bernadette, Scott, Nathan, Andrew, Joy, David, Charity, Katie, Jessi, Jordan and Josh — and her 30 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the Immanuel Family Church, Grand Manan, NB on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm. The Funeral Service will take place at the church on Thursday at 12:30 pm with Rev. Dr. Jeff Benson and Rev. Ward McComiskey officiating. The interment will be held at the Hillside Cemetery following the service.
