Ruth Marie Beney

The passing of Ruth Marie (Anthony) Beney, wife of the late Samuel "Happy" Beney of Pennfield NB occurred peacefully at Ridgeview Manor, Pennfield NB on September 18, 2022. Born on Campobello Island NB on January 26, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Elizabeth "Bessie" (Fletcher) Anthony. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt; Ruth is survived by her son: Mel (Sherry) Beney of Seeley's Cove NB; grandchildren: Chastity (Phil) Seelye of Pennfield NB, Shannon (Paul) Blanchard of Blacks Harbour NB and Kristen (Robert) Gaudet of Pennfield NB; great-grandchildren: Justine Seelye, Ashley Seelye, Zachary Seelye, Katherine Blanchard and Abigail Blanchard; sisters: Lillian Justason of Saint John NB and Mary (Stephen) Boyd of Pennfield NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by brothers: Wes, Millidge, Waitstill, Willard, Ronald, Graeme, James, Ralph and Gordon; and by sisters: Merle McPherson, Edith Johnson, Laura Wilcox and Sertha Munn.

Prior to retirement, Ruth worked with Connor's Brothers in Blacks Harbour for 49 years. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed being out meeting new people. She loved going for drives, eating at Ozzie's and spending all the time she could with her beloved grandchildren. Ruth truly loved her family and loved getting together with them, especially at Christmas, which was her favourite holiday.  She was a long time member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church where she loved teaching Sunday School and being surrounded by the children. Her love, compassionate heart and warm smile will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

We would like thank Jackie and her staff at Ridgeview Manor for their caring and attention to Ruth and a special thanks to Lizzie who choose to make Ruth her special friend. We would also like to express our thanks and appreciation to the Extramural nurses who offered such caring to Ruth as well as Ruth’s niece Bonnie Seeley who made so many visits who always brought her the treats she loved.  We cannot truly express our appreciation for all the love and care they have all showered on Mom.
