The passing of Thelma Arlene (French) Cooke of Back Bay NB, wife of the late Eugene Clarence Cooke, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on May 19, 2022 with her family at her side. Born in Back Bay NB on July 31, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Sherby and Lillian (Cooke) French. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Thelma is survived by one son: Tony (Melissa) Cooke of L'Etang NB; one daughter: Karen (David) Deveau of Pocologan NB; grandchildren: Amanda Leeman (Jeremy Ellis), Chelsea Leeman (Corey Borthwick), Marissa Cooke (Derek Bowman), Logan Cook and Brianna Cook; four great-grandchildren: Peyton, Paisley, Lennon and Weston; siblings: Helen Amirault of Bocabec NB, Bernard "Buddy" (Pam) French of Bocabec NB, Marilyn Morrell of Saint John NB and Robert (Susan) French of Back Bay NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Prior to retirement, Thelma worked for the local school district as a custodian at the Back Bay school. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and looked forward to her Costco trips with her daughter, Karen. She was a social butterfly who loved to meet new people and often sparked up a conversation with anyone she met on her way. In her spare time, Thelma could be found cheering on the Blue Jays or enjoying a game of Bingo. Her sense of humor and her love and devotion to her family will be greatly missed.
