Gene Stratton Guptill

1932-2022

Gene Stratton Guptill

Gene Stratton Guptill, aged 90, of Ingalls Head, Grand Manan, NB, died peacefully at home on March 31, 2022 after a short illness with cancer.

Born on Grand Manan, he was the youngest son of Vance Guptill and Beulah née Ingalls. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle née Bagley after 60 years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his brother Sydney Guptill and his sister Ethel McDonald. He is survived by his four children: Scott (Sheila) of Moncton, Patricia Burbury (Warren) of North Head, Jeffrey (Susan) of St. Stephen and Marilyn Robertson (Daniel) of Scotland. Five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and his constant companion, his dog, Maya.

Dad was always saying as long as he was being of use and impacting some one's life in a positive manner he was content to be here. Gene loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Community Life Church, involving himself in many activities supporting his church family and others in the community.

In earlier years he and his wife enjoyed their cottage at Miller's Pond, occasional winter trips to Florida and his yearly wood cutting and collection of his winter wood with the boys. This weekend time brought many of the family together for much love and laughter.

Dad worked for NBEPC for 25 years as a diesel mechanic. He retired in 1992 and enjoyed 30 years of active and meaningful retirement.

He was a loving dad, grandfather and good friend who will be greatly missed.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. While there will be no visiting at this time, a graveside service will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date with Pastor Kark Ingersoll officiating. In Gene's memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
