Margaret "Elaine" Gillespie

The passing of Margaret "Elaine" (Murray) Gillespie, wife of the late James J. Gillespie, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on March 11, 2022. Born in Pennfield NB on March 9, 1933, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Davidson) Murray. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elaine is survived by one daughter: Audrey (Allen) Whittier of Seeleys Cove NB; one son: Billy (Sandy) Gillespie of Pennfield NB; three grandchildren: Shawn (Ruby) Whittier, Shannon (Dale) Shaw and Jessica (Jon) Doucet; four great-grandchildren: Alyssa Whittier, Gus Doucet, Dale Shaw and Audrey Whittier; and several cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was predeceased by one sister in infancy.

Prior to retirement, Elaine worked as a cook for several local restaurants. She was a lady of simple pleasures who enjoyed doing puzzles and watching a Blue Jays game on TV. She loved to spend time with her family and also cherished the time she spent with her friend, Joyce Justason.

The family would like to thank everyone at Kindred Home Care and The Eastern Charlotte Extra Mural Program for their care and compassion shown to Elaine. You truly went above and beyond and we will forever be grateful for you.    

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. As keeping with Elaine's wishes, there will be no visiting or funeral service. In her memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
