Dorothea "Dossie" Baldwin

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothea "Dossie" (Spinney) Baldwin, age 99 of St. George New Brunswick on January 21, 2022 at Lincourt Manor in St Stephen, NB with her niece Pege Peters by her side. Dossie would have turned 100 on April 22nd.

Dossie was the daughter of the late J.O. and Bettie Spinney. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Morton Baldwin, siblings, Mildred Irwin husband Ray, Jean Dunlap husband James, James Spinney wife Gaye, John Spinney, brother in law Les Boulter, son in law Darrell Bradbury, great grandson Gabriel  Slaunwhite.

She is survived by her children John (Susan) Baldwin of Fredericton NB, Jane (Brian) Slaunwhite of Blackfalds Alberta and Beth Bradbury of London Ontario. Grandchildren, Jeff (Amanda) Slaunwhite and Matt (Karenna) Slaunwhite and great grandchildren Anniston, Paige and Brooks Slaunwhite all of Blackfalds Alberta. Her sister Bettie Anne Boulter of Fredericton NB, sister in law Joan Spinney of Burlington Ontario. Several nieces and nephews.

Dossie worked in her early years as a phone operator at NB Tel before she married her husband Donald. They moved around the Atlantic Provinces for his job at CMHC. They returned to St. George NB after his retirement from CMHC to live in the Baldwin homestead on Riverview Avenue. She was a member of the St. Marks Anglican Church Women’s Auxiliary and was an active member in the St. George Legion until she moved to Lincourt Manor in 2014. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and reading. The door was always open for a visit and a meal.

Many thanks to the dedicated staff of Lincourt Manor that cared for Dossie for over the last 7 years.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. A memorial service for Dossie will be held at the St. Mark's Anglican Church on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating followed by the interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen NB or a charity of your choice.
