Denise Hope Newsham

1964-2021

Denise Hope Newsham

The passing of Denise Hope (Buchanan) Newsham, wife of Bradley J. Newsham of Second Falls NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on September 25, 2021 with her family at her side. Born in Blacks Harbour NB on March 21, 1964, she was a daughter of the late Neil and Edna (Matthews) Buchanan. A loving wife, mother, sister and aunt, in addition to her husband Brad, Denise is survived by her daughter: Cally Newsham (Andrew Quartermain) of Norton NB; her brothers: Bruce (Nancy) Buchanan and Wendell Buchanan; sisters: Wanda (Tim) Hatt, Twylla (Ronnie) Justason and Stacey Buchanan (Mitchell Dooks); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prior to illness, Denise worked several jobs in the local area including with Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour and the Call Center in St. George. Denise was an animal lover who had a special place in her heart for her babies, her Yorkies. She loved shopping and was known to stop at a yard sale or a thrift store to find some great deals. Denise truly loved her family. She was devoted to and cherished her husband who stood by her side, cared for her and never let her battle her illness alone. Her daughter was her pride and joy; she was always so proud of Cally’s accomplishments. She also enjoyed spending many family days with her husband, daughter, siblings, nieces and nephews at her parents camp when they were still living.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit and the SICU at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion during Denise's stay. Your assistance in our time of need will always be remembered with great gratitude.
