Rev. Ernest Douglas Eldridge
Rev. Ernest (Ernie) Douglas Eldridge, 85, passed away July 18th, 2015 at the Trillium Nursing Home in Kingston, Ontario. He was born in Beaver Harbour, NB to the late Grace (Borthwick) and Clare Eldridge, on August 30th, 1929. Ernie was predeceased by his loving wife Barbara, in 2006. Ernie wrote a book titled "Heaven,Help,Hope our Decade Battle with ALS", which was based on Barbara's long and courageous struggle with ALS. Ernie was an Anglican Church Minister, and a graduate of Wycliffe College in Toronto, Ont. With his wife Barbara they served in three provinces: Ontario, British Columbia and New Brunswick. They served in Vancouver for 35 years in six different churches. In 1994 they retired to Beaver Harbour, NB and after Barbara passed away, Ernie moved to Kingston, ON. Ernie was not only involved in the church and community, but was especially a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his children: Miriam Avery (Hartley) of Beaver Harbour, NB and Thomas Eldridge (Heather) of Kingston, ON; three grandchildren: Heather Avery (Luke MacGregor), Cailin Richard (Corey) and Devon Eldridge (Marsha); three great grandchildren: Colby, Ellie & Lucy. Also surviving are his brothers: Carmen, Glen (Barb), Myles (Anne), James (Eileen) and David (Joanne); his sisters: June Markee (Gerald), Jean Foote and Shirley Quigley; and Sister-in-law: Helen Eldridge (Wilf); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers: Wilf and Ford; sisters: Hazel Clinch (Joe) and Millie Hawkins (George).

Arrangements in the care of St.George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St.George, NB. A Memorial service will be held at Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB on Saturday, July 25th, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Canon John Matheson officiating, followed by the interment in the parish cemetery. In Ernie's memory donations to the ALS or Alzheimer Societies or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
