1942-2014

H. Galen Calder
Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on November 19, 2014, Mr. Galen Calder, husband of Mrs. L. Rosalie (Campbell) Calder of Fairhaven NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on February 7, 1942, he was a son of the late Harold and Lily (Parks) Calder. A loving husband, step-father, step-grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Rosalie, he is survived by step-children: Tom (Dee) Brooks of Philadelphia PA, Sheri Brooks of Moncton NB and Toby Brooks (Nicole Oakes) of Centerville NB; one step-grandson: Tanner Nicholson; two brothers: Hinson Calder (Sheila O'Keefe) of Bayside NB and Steve (Chris) Calder of Darlings Island NB; two special great-nieces: LilyAnna and Lauren Calder; a special great-nephew: Noah Calder and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prior to retirement Galen worked as a fisherman in the local area for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and gardening. Galen had a passion for music, especially singing and could often be found singing in the choir at the Fairhaven United Baptist Church where he was a longtime member, Deacon and Sunday School Superintendant. He enjoyed being in the company of his friends and family and was known to be a great story teller. Galen was a member of the of the Masonic Lodge Abanaki # 55, Deer Island.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the Fairhaven United Baptist Church, Fairhaven NB, with visiting on Saturday from 6-8 pm. The service will be held from the church on Sunday at 3 pm with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating.
