George L. Bostwick
Surrounded by his family George L. Bostwick, 79, of Leonardville, Deer Island, died Sept. 2 at Saint John Regional Hospital of complications of cancer. Born Dec. 9, 1934 at Wickham, NB he was the son of Ottis and Mary (McCann) Bostwick. Educated at local schools, he moved to Saint John to work as a young man, where he met and married Roma Conley of Leonardville. They moved to Deer Island when their daughter, Tammy, was a baby. He worked for H.W. Welch, Ltd. in a number of capacities, including managing the Welch store at Leonardville and as supervisor of the shipping department at the H.W. Welch sardine factory at Fairhaven. He later worked as a deckhand for the New Brunswick Department of Transportation. George enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables for his family and his neighborhood. He enjoyed history, reading, Friday night card parties in St. George, traveling and being in the company of his friends and family. He was a wise, generous, kind man.

George is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Rolla) Wells of Alfred, ME; siblings: Joseph (Gwen) Bostwick of Wickham NB, Margaret 'Peggy' MacDonald and Shirley (Roland ) Reicker of Hatfields Point, NB, John (Kathy) Bostwick of St. Thomas, ON and Sandra (David) Gray of Midland, NB; step-grandson, James (Junko) Wells and their daughter, Natalie, and his dear friend and travelling companion, Lillian Spinney of St. George NB as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by his wife, Roma and sister, Geraldine Mott.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George (755-3533) with visiting on Friday from 2:00-4:00 pm at the funeral home and 7:00- 9:00 pm at the Leonardville Church of Christ. The Funeral Service will be held from the Church on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Joel Bridges officiating. Interment in the Leonardville Community Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
