Evans Joseph Maillet Sr.

Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on August 19, 2010, Mr. Evans Joseph Maillet Sr., husband of Mrs. Yvette Mary (Ferguson) Maillet of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Saint-Louis-de-Kent NB on May 16, 1927, he was a son of the late Anthony and Phoebe (Chevarie) Maillet. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his loving wife, Yvette, he is survived by three sons; Evans Jr. (Trudi) Maillet of Pennfield NB, Alex (Sally) Maillet of Utopia NB and David Maillet of Beaver Harbour NB, five daughters; Mary (Keith) Wobma of St. Andrews NB, Rita Leavitt of Utopia, Helen Maillet of St. Andrews, Emma Maillet (Dean Leblanc) of Elmsville NB and Elaine (Randall) Buchanan of St. Andrews, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, six sisters; Roseamy, Yvonne, Irene, Orise, Freda and Marie, many brothers and sisters in law and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Evans was predeceased by three brothers; Arthur, Joseph and Edward and by one sister, Alice.

Prior to his retirement, Evans worked for Connors Bros. at Blacks Harbour. In his quiet time, he enjoyed watching Golf and Curling and could sometimes be found playing his deer hunter game. He had a passion for music and loved to play the mouth organ. He especially enjoyed when his family came together and joined in song. His warm smile and laugh will be missed by many.

As per Evans’ request there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held from the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Blacks Harbour NB on Saturday at 11:00 am with Father Brian Wetmore officiating, followed by interment at the parish cemetery. In Evan’s memory donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
