Vernon Gilmor Calder
Peacefully at his residence, in his 94th year, on March 5, 2010, Mr. Vernon Gilmor Calder, husband of the late Pearl M. (Call) Calder of Lords Cove NB. Born at Deer Island NB on July 29, 1916, he was the son of the late William and Helen (Stover) Cook. A loving father and grandfather he is survived by three daughters; Shirley Logan of Fredericton NB, Mary (Donald) Hickox of Charlottetown PEI and Gloria Stuart (Wayne Richardson) of Hibernia Cove NB, eight grandchildren; Valerie (Dale) Justason of Lambertville NB, Helen Martin (Steve Steiner) of Lords Cove, Sandra (John) Clark of St. George NB, Dwayne (Nicole) Richardson of Lambertville, Ritchie (Irene) Logan of Fredericton, Lisa (Michael) Gallant of Moncton NB, Sarah Hickox (Shane Hebert) and John Hickox both of Charlottetown, 10 great grandchildren, and several cousins.

Prior to his retirement, Vernon fished and was employed by HW Welch Limited for a number of years. He was an avid animal lover, especially cats, as he and his cat Jezebel were best of friends. He loved the company of family and friends and was known as a great story teller. A man of simple pleasures he also loved his Blue Cheese and smoking his pipe. The family would like to thank the homemakers who assisted Vernon, making his stay at home comfortable and possible.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev. Glenn Cox officiating. The interment will take place at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery, Deer Island NB following the service. Visiting at the funeral home on Saturday from 4-8 pm. In Vernon’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
