Leonard "Smokey" Joseph Smith

1953-2024

Leonard "Smokey" Joseph Smith

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Leonard Joseph Smith aka Smokey.

Leonard was a gentle kind soul, he loved to sit and talk to anyone that wanted to but never bothered anyone. He was very reclusive in his living but would always have a smile for those that cared enough to take the time to chat. He was very intelligent and knowledgeable on many topics like electrical and current affairs. He could and would talk circles around the best of us when he didn’t like what we wanted him to do or were asking of him. He was contrary without being contrary, he would just talk until you gave up talking. Bless his soul but when you were there to help or provide something he did want or need that smile was priceless and the odd hug was precious.

Many from Pocologan, Pennfield and St. George would remember seeing Ol’ Smokey riding his bicycle everywhere and being at the Save Easy back about 6-7 years ago. He moved to St. Stephen and I know a few that got to know him around town.

This harmless kind little man that everyone saw around, and for those of you that made the effort to say hello, buy him a coffee or give him a smoke, he appreciated you and you were blessed by this exceptionally polite special man.

Leonard will be missed by all that knew him and cared about him.

Just a reminder… take the time for our vulnerable, be kind, lend a hand, give a smile, say hello. It will never be a wasted moment.
