Helen Jean Lynch

The passing of Helen Jean Lynch of St. George NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on February 19, 2024. Born in Saint John on September 11, 1950, she was a daughter of the late George and Lillian (King) Saunders.

A loving partner, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Helen is survived by her partner of 30 years, Ernest Hatt of St. George; her daughters: Cathy Legere (Kim Reynolds) of Hampton NB and Carrie Legere (Andrew Hayward) also of Hampton; one son: Jason Lynch (Brenda) of Kingston NB; grandchildren: Michael Berdan, Robert Legere, Jacob Lynch, Jonathan Lynch, Jacqueline Lynch, Jaylee Hayward and Tenley Hayward; four great-grandchildren; brothers: George Saunders (Rachael) of Saint John NB and Jimmy Saunders (Hazel) of Smithtown NB; sisters: Cathy Lemoine of Quispamsis NB and June Reid (Tony) of Saint John NB; special cousins: Eleanor Moreau of Quebec and Donna Cooke of Ontario; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by one sister, Betty Hanley.

Helen was well known in the local area as she was previously employed as a retail clerk at the Dollarstore and Clothesmine, where she always had a smile for everyone who came through the door. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and had a habit of adding sprinkles and glitter to everything. Helen had a passion for thrift store shopping and was also known to give everything away to her friends and family. She truly loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as "Nana Blue."  Helen will be missed by her family and friends and many in the local area.

The family would like to thank the staff of the SICU of the Saint John Regional Hospital for the care and compassion shown not only to Helen but to their family during Helen’s recent stay. You will always be remembered with great gratitude. Also a special thank you to Chris Smith and his family for all you have done for Helen and Ernest, thank you sometimes doesn’t feel like enough.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. There will be no visitation or services held at this time. A private family service will be held at a later date. In Helen’s memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer would be appreciated by the family.
