John Samuel Norman

The passing of John Samuel Norman Sr., beloved husband of Mary I. (Tucker) Norman occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on February 17, 2024. Born at St. George NB on December 10, 1941, he was a son of the late Darrell and F. Rosie (Kernighan) Norman.

A loving husband, grandfather and brother he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary; grandchildren: Kristi & Jennifer; 3 great grandchildren: Tanner, Rachael and Arlo; his brothers: Ross (Joan) Norman of St. George, Glenn (Charlotte) Norman of Second Falls NB, Charles (Claudette) Norman of St. George and Brian (Donna) Norman of St. George; sisters: Clara McDowell (late Keith) of St. George, Frances (Gordon) Embree of Riverview NB, Shirley (Pete) Leblanc of Pennfield NB, Valerea Norman (Peter Jablonski) of St. Stephen NB and Deborah Norman of St. George; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his daughter, Karen Cooke; sons: Kevin and John Jr., brother: Darrell; sisters: Myrtle Berdan and Betty Diamond.

Prior to his retirement, John and Mary owned and operated their own successful insurance business for a number of years in St. George. He then went to the New River Provincial Park where he worked as a park maintenance man until his retirement. John also took interest in his community, having spent a total of 20 years serving various terms on St. George Town Council. He was also an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, especially moose hunting as well as the fellowship of family and friends. He was a member of Sea View Full Gospel Church and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements in care of the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Visitation will be held at the Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay NB on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The service will be held on Wednesday from the church at 2:00pm with Rev Paul Legere and Pastor Gordon Cooke officiating. Interment will be held in the spring at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In John’s memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
