1937-2020

Redmond "Reddie" Arthur Leavitt
The passing of Redmond "Reddie" Arthur Leavitt occurred unexpectedly at his residence in Upper L'Etang NB on December 22, 2020. Born in Back Bay NB on October 18, 1937, he was a son of the late Victor and Edna "Marie" (Oliver) Leavitt. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, Reddie will be sadly missed by his children: Eileen Shaw (Terry) of Limekiln NB, Kelly Childs of Saint John NB, Darren Leavitt of Blacks Harbour NB, Judy Whipple (Stan) of Ontario, Allison Leavitt of St. George NB and Stacy Hanley (Darren) of Back Bay NB; his chosen children: Laurie Boyd (Terry) of Bonny River NB and Cathy Mitchell (Martin) of Pocologan NB; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings: Theresa, Blanche, Edna, Lorna, Allen and Lorne; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Reddie was predeceased by his long time companion: Barbara Donaher; one son: David; one daughter: Connie; granddaughter: Ocean; a great-grandson: Zackary; special nephew: Gerry Leavitt; and siblings: Clayton, Mary, Olive and Alice.

Prior to retirement, Reddie was a fisherman his whole life, working for years on the sardine boats for Connors Bros. then eventually becoming self employed. He was a jack of all trades and there wasn't anything he couldn't do or wasn't willing to try. He loved keeping his yard just so, working in his garden, hunting, fishing, watching sports on TV and his morning talks with Blanche, Lorne and Allen. He especially loved his drives with his sons, Darren and Allison. Reddie will always be remembered for always being there for his family, day or night, and will be missed by each and every one of them.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. As keeping with Reddie's wishes, there will be no funeral services. In his memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
