Douglas Edgar Cooke
Douglas E. Cooke lost his battle with cancer peacefully in his home on Saturday, Aug 8, 2020. Born on Nov 19, 1948 he was raised solely by his mother Beatrice Cooke. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by his wife Louise (Libby of St. Andrews) Cooke of 51 years of marriage, his sons Jeffery (Heather) Cooke, Mark (Elsie) Cooke, Shawn (Amanda) Cooke and daughters Dawn (Mark) Winters, and Angie (Dave) Babcock. Several grand kids, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his mother, Doug was predeceased by his brothers Kenneth (Ella) Cooke, Johnny (Nancy) Cooke, Donald Cooke, his sister; Helen, nephew Stephen Cooke, niece Katherine Cooke and grandson Owen Babcock.

Doug worked for 35 years as a Stationary Power Engineer in Blacks Harbour at Connors Brothers. He also worked a few years as a Heating Technician for Irving Oil Ltd. where he made many friends. He taught Hunter Education for 40 years. Being an avid Sportsman himself, he loved hunting with his sons. He was also a true fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Nascar. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He cherished any time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Family was very important to Doug. Doug also loved and served God with all his heart. He loved his church family greatly. He was frequently at the Stella Maris Hall in Blacks Harbour to support various benefits. Doug truly believed in helping others.
Doug (Dad, Bubby) will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him. Earth’s Loss, Heaven’s Gain.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematoriun with visiting on Tuesday from 6-8 pm. A graveside service will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery on Wednesday at 2pm with Pastor Wayne Munn officiating. In Doug's memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or a charity of the donors choice.
