He is survived by one daughter: Sarah (John) Handspiker; one son: Ernest (Belinda) Matheson; six grandchildren: Tamera Bremner (Jennifer), Angela Bremner, Lovett (Amanda) Bremner, Mellissa (Jason) Hall, Daniel (Marley) Matheson and A-J (Tom) Dixon; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister: Hilda (Ronnie) Hanley; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ernest was a loving father and kind and gentle Christian man. He had many careers during his lifetime, including carpenter, fisherman and lighthouse keeper. He loved spending time with his nephew, Murvin Matheson, who was like a son to him. Ernest was a Deacon at Sea View Full Gospel Church in Back Bay for over 50 years. He loved to see his granddaughter Mellissa, especially when she came with a large bowl of ice cream for him. He also loved to see Susan MacKillop, who always brought him chocolates and stuffed animals on special occasions. Ernest will always be remembered for his love of the Toronto Blue Jays. His care, devotion and love for his family will always be cherished.

Because of the excellent care from his daughter Sarah and her family, Ernest was fortunate to be able to stay home for his final years. The family thanks the extra mural nurses for their ongoing support they received.
