Kathleen Maebelle Wilcox
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Kathleen Maebelle Wilcox, wife of the late Leo Gordon Wilcox on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Hospice Halifax, Halifax, NS. Born on Wood Island, NB June 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Leland Caswell and Clara Jane (Schofield) Wilcox.

She is survived by her children: Gordon and Alta Wilcox, both of Halifax, NS; grandchildren: Christopher (Elizabeth) Wilcox of Hampton, NB, John Adams and Tammy (Tim) Stoddard of Saint John, NB; great-grandchildren: Jeffrey and Janaya Wilcox and Stephanie and Stephen Stoddard. She is also survived by her brother: Willis (Thelma); and sisters: Lydia Parker and Ella Cary, all of Grand Manan, NB as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Kay was predeceased by infant son: John; grandson Jeffrey Wilcox; daughter-in-law: Beverly Wilcox; sisters: Alta Ingersoll, Esther Allen and Nellie Wilcox; and brothers: Hollis, Baker, Lester, Donald and Walter.

Prior to her retirement, Kay worked at Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour for 31 years in the old labeling room and the office of the packaging area. She was an active member of the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church, playing the organ and piano, leading the choir and singing specials with Nancy Card and Weldon Theriault. She also had the joy of playing for numerous weddings over the years. She liked to write poetry and short stories, do word search puzzles and watch CNN (don't get her started on a certain U.S. president!) In the last few years she also discovered the joys of online shopping.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held for Kay at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In her memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
