Marguerite Elizabeth Spinney

1915-2019

Marguerite Elizabeth Spinney
Marguerite Elizabeth Spinney
Marguerite Elizabeth (Hawkins) Spinney left this world on December 23, 2019, but not our hearts. She was born January 25th, 1915 to Rupert and Ida (Beech) Hawkins of Pennfield NB. She was a devoted wife to the late Stanley Joseph Spinney and loving mother daughter: Rebecca Brown of Blacks Harbour NB; son: David and Beth Hatt of Utopia NB; adored grandmother to grandson: Derek (Jodi) Hatt; granddaughters: Dawn Marie Glennie and Krista (Kyle) Beaudry both of St. George, Tina (Robert) McCullough of Bocabec NB and Lisa (Douglas) Stuart of Pennfield NB; many great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews and we can't forget how she was a surrogate mother and caregiver to many many more.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marguerite was predeceased by two brothers: Ken and Don Hawkins; two sisters: Madge Paul and Laura Spear; son in law: Clayton Brown; Granddaughter: Katrina Lynn Brown; and great-great-grandchildren: Carter and Adriana Joncas.

Marguerite lived her life in the Service of her Lord and family and doing for others as best she could. She had several cooking positions with local area restaurants throughout her years and at times in one of Stanley's logging camps. But the place where should could be found most of the time was working side by side with Stanley whether it was on the farm in Blacks Harbour, a blueberry or hay field, a logging camp in the woods or one of their many gardens which feed friends and family alike. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and being able to teach and pass on to them the best parts of her, and that was her gift to us.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgeview Manor and Fundy Nursing Home for their compassionate care given to Marguerite in her passed years.

A celebration of Marguerite's life will be held from the St. George Baptist Church, St. George NB on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Jason Hooper officiating followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments in the church basement. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until the service time at 2:00 pm. In Marguerite's memory, donations to the St. George and Area Food Bank, the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
